Here are a few family-friendly hints and tips for my fellow mummies (and daddies) who want to take their family to Siegsdorf Natural History and Mammoth Museum
My family went there in January 2011
Auenstrasse 2, D - 83313 Siegsdorf
Located approx 75 minutes away from the South of Munich, this is a lovely quarter-day family attraction.
It has its own car park, although it is situated about a 4 minute walk away from the entrance to the museum (follow the yellow mammoth footprints on the pavement).
Or you can get the train to Siegsdorf, and walk the 4 minutes (again, follow the yellow footprints).
For those with a pram/stroller, you can access all three floors of the museum using the lift, and there is a baby changing area in the ladies toiletten.
There is a lovely little vibrant aquarium which kept my 18-month old mesmorised for about ten-minutes! And a giant shark's mouth which you can go into and pretent to be eaten, heehee.
At the end of your visit, don't forget to say "hallo" to Rudi the mammoth who is situated just outside the main entrance (turn right as you exit). You can't miss him - he's huge!

If you wanted to make this into a full-day trip, there are two children's attractions nearby (car required).
Freizeitpark Ruhpolding (Vorderbrand 7, D-83324 Ruhpolding)
Approx 15 minutes drive away
Märchen-Erlebnispark Marquartstein (Jägerweg 14, D-83250 Marquartstein)
Approx 25 minutes away
You are also very close to the lake of Chiemsee.
