60 -90 minutes from Munich (traffic/starting point). Campsite on a peninsula in the Lake. Great swimming, biking, boat trips to Fraueninsel, climbing center close by.

90 minutes from town. Simple campsite but every pitch has a view to the water. Great place to cycle and enjoy the lake: electric boats and canoes for rent in town. Cycle path around lake 22km. Possible for grade school kids to bike around the whole lake -- huge accomplishment. Favorite.
www.camping-stein.de it's on Simsee, about 1.5/ two hours from Munich. We also liked the one on Walchensee and Kochelsee. The ones around Chiemsee should be nice, too.

About 2 hrs. from Munich. OK -- it's Eurocamp but we really enjoyed using their pool. I felt like I'd traveled to Holland because of all the Dutch guests. Great area for hiking, biking. Don't miss Hexenwasser with the kids.
