Just wanted to write a recommendation for an AMAZING childrens magician/comedy act that kept 12 4 and 5 year olds howling with laughter for 45 minutes at the weekend. His name is Rene and he is bilingual English/German so can do it in both languages fluently. His number is 0160 6535520, website 

This guy is amazing. The kids were laughing from the off, he gets them up and involved in his act. The parents loved him too and were laughing as well. Lots of good slap stick comedy mixed with little tricks. Just fabulous. He does an act for older kids, adults, work parties etc. He would definitely be a talking point!

We just our 8 year-old daughter's birthday party at the Munich Egyptian Museum. Our guide was a real life Egyptologist, Vivian, who spoke perfect English and was amazing with kids. I can not recommend this venue enough! First the kids put on Egyptian costumes, then had a guided tour of the museum, then had a lesson on hieroglyphics. (There are many themes to choose from.) The museum charges 100 euros for up to 15 kids, for two and a half hours. Ask for Vivian if you book a party

In case anyone has a (birthday) party to organise - apparently there is a specialist balloon shop in town, at Karlstr 45. I just learnt about it yesterday as a parent at my daughter's playgroup bought in a bunch of helium balloons for their child's birthday (they were all different colours with matching coloured ribbons and looked fantastic - like a mini version of the balloons in the film 'Up'!).

My son celebrated his 2nd and 3rd birthdays at Gymboree and both were great  we've also been to other people's parties there and enjoyed them all. The best thing in my opinion of holding it at gymboree is the whole space is for you and you don't have to worry about keeping an eye on your personal possessions or worry about big kids knocking yours over like at lollihop etc, especially when the kids are young! it also feels more like a party than having everyone spread over different places and only coming together to eat! You don't have any clean up to do there and you can do as much or little work as you like regarding food - I did a buffer at home and took it with me and a cake of course, but for the main meal, there is a vapiano just around the corner where you can get take away pizza and pasta if you prefer. It maybe more pricey, but for me it was worth it

it's a flat, Ground floor, little garden and playground. Fully equipped kitchen. Price: we paid 20€ for half a day. You need to return it clean.


Here is an excel chart I made a few years ago. It has pages for venues, planners, rooms for hire and entire parties. Since living in Munich and my children getting older, I have seen even more birthday parties and ideas than listed here. Just ask, if none of these sound appealing.
